This weekend many AXA Australia staff will volunteer their time in support of the company’s community partners. Employees will be involved in a broad range of activities including tree planting for Landcare, serving meals at a Brotherhood of St Laurence hostel, sorting toys for the Smith Family and providing actuarial expertise for the National Heart Foundation.

The weekend is an annual event in AXA’s Hearts in Action community relations program. ‘AXA believes in the importance of creating a balance between our business and the community,’ explains AXA Australia Group Chief Executive Les Owen, who will help paint the Salvation Army centre at Sunshine on Saturday morning.

‘Hearts in Action offers AXA people the opportunity to make a contribution to the community by participating in a range of volunteer activities throughout the year. It is just one part of AXA’s community relations strategy to build strong and enduring partnerships with the community,’ comments Les Owen.

The Hearts in Action program supports five causes chosen by AXA staff: caring for our elderly, support for children in need, support for the socially disadvantaged, assistance for people with disabilities, and health and well-being. The program develops long-term partnerships with organisations aligned to these causes. AXA contributes staff volunteer time and expertise to each partnership.

Around 600 AXA employees are regular volunteers to the Hearts in Action program which reflects the AXA Group’s worldwide commitment to the belief that large companies have a responsibility towards the communities and countries they operate in.
